The tiles 1-9 of the 3 suits (Bamboos, Characters, Circles), 4 of each rank.
To build all the tiles to the foundation piles.
| • | 12 foundation piles (4 on top, 4 on each side). At the start of the game two 1's and two 9's of each suit are removed from the tiles to begin the foundation piles. The piles starting with 1's are built up by rank in suit starting with the 1's, to 2's, on up to 9's. The piles starting with 9's are built down by rank in suit starting with the 9's, to 8's, on down to 1's. |
| • | tableau - At the start of the game 64 tiles are dealt out in an 8x8 square, with every other tile rotated 90 degrees. Only tiles which have a short side not blocked by another tile are available. In the initial configuration, 16 of the 28 tiles on the outside edge are available. As tiles are removed, interior tiles will become available. Available tiles from the tableau can be built onto the foundation piles. |
| • | stock pile (top left, face down) - turn over tiles one at a time to the waste pile by clicking (you can also just press the Enter key). When the stock is empty, clicking on the empty stock will turn over the tiles in the waste pile back to the stock pile (only one redeal is allowed). |
